Lets go camping!

Over the Labor Day weekend, the Paulson's joined 3 other families for a camping trip east of the mountain. We had scheduled a trip down towards Mt St Helens, but after looking at the weather report the Monday beforehand, we decided to switch up destinations and head eastward, which on Monday had a dry forecast. We ended up staying at Lodgepole, which is just on the other side of Chinook Pass, close to Naches. Little did we know, the rain forecast changed for the weekend and heavy rain was in our future!

Friday night was an absolute blast as it was dry when we got there, so we set up camp and spent the evening with the Jones' and the Lundquist's. We stayed up til about midnight and went to bed into our comfy tent. At 1am, the rain started, but it wasn't heavy, so we didn't think too much about it... At 4:30ish, however, the heavens opened up and it started pouring rain. Jace woke up at 5:45am and joined his mom and dad in bed for another hour and a half of sleep. At 7:15, we woke up and Jace was in awe of his surroundings, just loving looking at the tent and listening to the rain. We got out of our tent around 8:30 and the rain was still coming down. The other family's were starting to stir, so we started a fire and added more tarps to help try and keep us dry. The Kadlec's arrived in the morning and set up their tent, so we had 4 families, 8 adults and 6 children, trying to stay warm and dry. The rain let up at around 2:30 and we were able to enjoy the dry afternoon. The afternoon and evening were very enjoyable and we stayed up until about 11pm chatting around the fire. Grandpa Ron, Grandma Marcia, Aunt Amber and Uncle Jeff showed up around 7:30 and visited with everybody. We ended up going to bed around 11pm under the starry sky. Well.... at midnight the rain started up again and rained as hard as Stephanie can remember for the whole night. It wasn't a very restful sleep, so at 8am, we got out of our tent, visited with everybody and we all packed up and were out of our campsite by 10:30, 1 day early, but with Jace's first camping trip under our belt. We had fun, but were very happy to be home in our own beds on Sunday night with a whole day ahead of us to relax and play.

Jace and Salsa!

Its been a few weeks since the last update, so here are a few great Jace pics that we have captured in that time.

A couple of weekends ago, Grandma Marcia, Grandpa Ron and Great Grandma Kate came over so that Kate could share her secret salsa recipe. It was amazing to see all of the vegetables turned into the delicious salsa that I could eat a jar of every day!

On Sunday, Grandma, Grandpa, Stephanie and Jace went to the Mariners game. There they enjoyed a good game and police motorcycle!

A good weekend with family is hard to beat.
