US Nationals 2009

Memorial Day weekend we packed up our stuff, grabbed Jace and Grandma Marcia and took off for Minneapolis to play some volleyball. We are very fortunate as Jace is a good plane passenger.

Before we go too far, we want to thank Grandma Marcia for helping us out that weekend (and for being away from Grandpa Ron for so long). She and Jace took Minneapolis by storm, allowing us to play volleyball and join our friends for dinners and nights out.

On Friday the 22nd (Todd's birthday!), we did a lot of hiking and exploring. It was very cool to see the Mississippi River near the origin as just a few years ago we were in New Orleans and saw it near its end.

There was a lot of history in Minneapolis. I had no idea that it was the heart of the flour world. It makes sense after being there and visiting the Flour World Museum... Oh yes we did.

There were so many other cool sites along the way. We saw huge carp like fish and turtles in the river (too far down for our little camera to capture though), lots of great architecture and much more, all on a beautiful day. Here are some pictures from the week of our adventures.

Yes, we did play some volleyball, though we won't subject you to any of our sweaty pictures. Instead, here are a few pictures of the dads with Rocco and Jace, watching the boy's moms play some ball.

Here is Jace making friends with another team.

And it wouldn't be a proper nationals if there wasn't a Bob Jackson sighting... Here is the man, the myth the legend!

Jace was practicing his bull riding techniques on the body pillows that the hotel provided. Grandpa Ron, how is he going to do?

A new trick that Jace taught himself over the week away was to find his mom and dad's shoes and put them on. Absolutely adorable!
